Marguerite Lorraine Seeuws Brown, daughter of the late Thomas Ford Seeuws and Dorothy Whiteman Seeuws, died at the age of 84 on 24 June 2022 after battling multiple infections the past two months and finally succumbing to an aggressive liver cancer.
Lorraine, a native of Knoxville, Tennessee was born 02 November 1937 and was raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. She lived in Oceanside, California for the past 48 years.
She served in the U.S. Marine Corps for 2 years and while on Independent Duty in San Francisco, California she met her husband, Walter H. Brown. They were married 17 October 1959 at the Ranch House Chapel at Camp Pendleton Marine Corps Base, California where her husband was stationed at the time. The Marine Corps took them to Beaufort, South Carolina, San Diego, California, Honolulu, Hawaii, and back to California in June 1974 where they resided in Oceanside, California until their deaths.
In the late 1970’s she worked at the Mission San Luis Rey’s Counseling Center and later volunteered for a few years at the Oceanside Police Department. She was an avid swimmer, bookworm, gardener, and enjoyed crocheting for many years. She loved to watch Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune and the Hallmark Channel. Her and her husband spent many of their years together camping, traveling, and cruising to places like Alaska and through the Panama Canal. They enjoyed going on adventures and spending time with their family. She was big on traditions and made sure to pass them on to her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Walter H. Brown.
She is survived by her four children: Kathleen Brown (Gary Flemming) of Oceanside, California, Robert Brown (Chris Lowe) of Oceanside, California, Patricia Miller (Patrick Miller) of Fallbrook, California, and Karen Shumate of Menifee, California. Eight grandchildren: Aubrey Jones (Ryan Jones), Amber Brown (Erik Kalfus), Gabriel Brown, Cassandra Pearce (Kyle Pearce), Rebecca Lile (Brendan Lile), Mackenzie Miller, Shelby Miller and Chloe Shumate. Six great grandchildren: Revae and Auva Jones, Peyton and Autumn Lile, Oliver Saxon, and Levi Walter Pearce. Sister: Suzanne Lorenzen (Bill Lorenzen). Brother: Thomas Seeuws (Queta Seeuws). Nephews: William Lorenzen and Ford Seeuws (Melissa Seeuws). Niece: Elizabeth Lorenzen (David McNamee).
Mass will be celebrated at Mission San Luis Rey 15 July 2022 at 10:00 a.m.
