John J. Barry passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, June 6, 2011. Born in Boston, Mass., he served honorably in the USMC for over 20 years, including three tours in Vietnam. He received numerous honors and awards, including the Bronze Star with Valor, and two Purple Hearts, before retiring in November 1973. John was a commercial realtor in the North County area for many years, prior to establishing his business, J&L’s Pub, in Oceanside, California in 1985. He enjoyed gathering with family, friends and associates over the years.
John was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, aunts and uncles. He is
survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Joan; daughter Debbie and husband David Rios, daughter Diane and Dale Godinet, and son John J. Barry, Jr. and wife Elizabeth, all of Oceanside; six granddaughters, and three great-grandchildren. Other survivors include many relatives and friends in California , Arizona, and Massachusetts.
A loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, John’s presence will be greatly missed. Our love for him will remain forever. A memorial service with military honors will be held Monday, June 13, 2011 at 1:00 pm at Eternal Hills in Oceanside, CA.
