James “T-Bone” Henderson, 56, of Rancho Cucamonga, California passed away with his family by his side on June 11, 2018 to be with the Lord after a brave battle with cancer. He was born in Montebello, California in 1961 and from day one lived a rich and full life. Jim went on to enjoy a long and successful career in the construction field. He began his career as a carpenter and worked his way up to a building inspector, and ultimately the associate manager of construction in the Department of Design and Construction at the University of California, Irvine. Jim considered his time at UCI among the best years of his life and cherished all he accomplished and all those that he had the pleasure to work alongside with. He worked at UCI for the last 23 years; retiring in December 2017. Had it been his choice, he would have worked another 23 years with a smile on his face and a joke at the ready.
Jim’s passions and talents were many. He was a true sports lover of all sorts; including being an avid basketball player, golfer, poker player, horse race enthusiast, and even enjoyed sky diving. Golf was by far his favorite sport in recent years, where he was always trying to recreate his famous “hole in 1” that he had several years ago. He especially loved rooting for his teams: the Dallas Cowboys, the L.A. Dodgers, and Lakers. Along with his passion for sports, Jim also loved all types of music from country to rock. Attending concerts were common throughout his life, but he particularly enjoyed taking his family to concerts at the Hollywood Bowl.
Jim was blessed with a dynamic personality and made friends with all those he met, partly because he was quite the jokester but in addition to his great sense of humor, Jim sincerely cared for and about others. Jim had a genuine zest for life and never wanted to leave anyone behind, rather he preferred to include and build others up!
A true family man, Jim loved and adored his family more than anything. Jim is survived by his mother, Virginia Henderson, and is now reunited in Heaven with his father, Thomas Henderson. Jim is also survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Diane Henderson; his children Neil Larsen, son, Julie Larsen, daughter, Janet Larsen, daughter, Anthony Rodelo, son-in-law, Michelle Patterson, daughter, Brandon Patterson, son-in-law; his siblings: Tommy Henderson; brother, Tammy Graven, sister, Danny Henderson, brother; his grandchildren: Carter Patterson, grandson; Annabelle Rodelo, granddaughter; and many nieces, nephews, additional family, and a host of friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Eternal Hills Mortuary Chapel in Oceanside, CA on June 22, 2018 at 12:00 p.m., with Pastor Joe Cole. Followed by burial at Eternal Hills Memorial Park at 1:15 p.m.
The family would like to express gratitude for the caring services provided by Kaiser Hospice of the Inland Empire.
