He leaves behind his cherished wife Debbie of 19 years; his beautiful daughters Samantha and Alexis; his adoring mother Chen Hui-Yu Lin; his devoted older brothers Chien-Yi Lin, Chien-Ho Lin (Grace), Chien-Neng Lin (Jennifer) and his faithful golden retriever Piper.
The youngest of four boys Chien-Cheng worked as the neighborhood newspaper boy as a teenager and contributed each paycheck to help support his mother and family. Yet he was still satisfied with just the cold root beer offered to him while on his regular bike route. This unwavering devotion to his family was the foundation for making him the wonderful husband and father that he was.
Chien-Cheng enjoyed many activities and interests. Skiing with his family was one of them – Mammoth, Whistler and Big Sky were some of his favorite mountains. You could spot him anywhere on the slopes in those bright yellow ski boots that he got a great deal on. Cheering on Samantha at tennis matches and Alexis at soccer games were on the list too. He hated to miss even one. For all who knew him well, they knew Chien-Cheng was a food lover to the core. A recent family vacation to Taiwan gave him the opportunity to proudly show his girls where he was born and where the best food was – at the night markets in Taipei. He believed that it couldn’t get any better than that – to travel and see the sights and enjoy his favorite foods with his family whom he adored. He will be deeply missed but he leaves his family with an abundance of fond memories.
We will remember Chien-Cheng with love and fondness at his memorial service on July 13, 2024, to be held at Eternal Hills Memorial Park in Oceanside. It will be a time to celebrate his life and to share with each other how amazing a gift it was to have known him.
