Bessie Mae Turner Moore passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on March 25, 2021. Bessie was born September 24, 1953, in Holden, WV, to the late John D. and Lucinda Turner. She was the sixth child of sixteen children. She grew up in Logan County, WV, and came to Oceanside, California at the age of thirteen to live with her sister Patricia and her husband. Bessie graduated from Oceanside High School and continued her education at Mira Costa College. She worked as an Operator at Tri-City Medical Center until she retired in 2009.
Bessie met and married her love, Robert L. Moore, and of that union had one child, Tatanisha, who blessed them with three beautiful Grandchildren, Tatiaunna, Beyonce, and Kevin Terrell. Her grandchildren were her world. She loved and adored each of them deeply.
Bessie always kept a superior attitude with everything she put her hand to do, be it work or school; she was known as the “go-to-girl,” because of her pleasant demeanor and willingness to go the extra mile. Her loving and kind spirit made her affectionately known as Aunt Bess to her many nieces and nephews. Family was everything to Bessie and she made it a priority to remain in close contact with her siblings, though miles separated them you could always feel the love they held for one another.
Bessie is predeceased by her parents, John D. Sr. and Lucinda Turner; Aunt Estella Jimerson; Siblings Cynthia L., Anthony Ray, John, Jr., and Carl N. Turner and great-nephew Jonathan Diondre Holloway. She is survived by her Uncle Thomas Tolliver, Siblings Patricia (Ervin) Edwards, Delores (Mac) Magee, Victoria (Gerald) White, Pamilla (Greg) Ballard, Camilla Day, Albert (Kay), Larry, Tracy (Janie), Carlos (Sonya), Claude, and Robert (AnnMarie) Turner. Her daughter Tatanisha Moore Hollowell and Son-in-Law Kevin Hollowell; Her three beautiful grandchildren Tatiaunna Hicks, Beyonce Hollowell, and Kevin Terrell Hollowell; a host of nieces and nephews who each had their own special bond with her.
She also leaves a host of cousins and numerous friends.
Bessie has gone on to be with the Lord. She will be as greatly missed as she was deeply loved.
