Bobby Edwin Price

Bobby Edwin Price, 70, of Kopperston, went to his heavenly home on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family, following a long illness. Born Nov. 26, 1945 at Uneeda, he was the son of the late Willie and Sadie Price. Bob was a member of Oceana Freewill Baptist Church, where he served as assistant Sunday school superintendent, and was an ordained deacon. Bob traveled and sang bass for many years with The Grimmetts. Bob was the owner of Coal Country Industries. He was involved in Little League baseball and softball, volunteering and coaching for 40 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching the grandkids play ball. He was preceded in death by one brother, Larry Price, and three sisters, Juanita Stiles, Joann Scalf and Wilma Alderfer. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 50 years, Georgetta Price; two sons, Tony and wife, Ella, of Kopperston and David and wife, Amy, of Kopperston; one daughter, Sharon Cook and husband, Randy, of Oceana; six grandchildren, Jordan, Steven and Bethany Cook, Ben and Isaac Price and Tiffany Shumate; two great-grandchildren, Dalton Ryan and Nicholas Shumate; one brother, Jerry Price of Danville; and one sister, Donna Loftus of Uneeda. He also had a host of nieces, nephews and many close friends. Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, July 9, at Oceana Freewill Baptist Church with Pastors Jackie Grimmett and William Cook officiating. Pallbearers will be Mike Prichard, Gene Bailey, Ronald Samples, Jimmy Gibson, Clayton Webb, James Evans, Tommy Maynard and Rick Belcher. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Richardson, Marvin Alfrey and Oscar Justice. Friends may gather with the family from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday evening at the church. The family would like to give special thanks to Hospice (especially Sara Harless and Serena Riffe), Jeff Prichard and Westside Pharmacy for helping him have a peaceful crossing.
