George Weiss

It is with deep sadness that we announce the loss of our beloved George Weiss of Sea Bright, NJ. He passed away on December 15, 2023 at the age of 88. Born of Hungarian descent on March 2, 1935, George spent most of his life in New Jersey.

George leaves behind his devoted wife, Gale Mueller. Their bond of love was a source of strength, comfort and joy. He will forever be cherished in the hearts of his children, Deena Reilly and Jeffrey Weiss, who were blessed to call him their father. In addition, George was a very close father-in-law to Damian Reilly and a special grandfather (Bebop) to Michael and Kevin Reilly. He held a special place in his heart for his nephew, Mark Weiss, and grandniece and grandnephew, Adele and Guy Weiss.

As the family patriarch, he is leaving behind cherished family and friends, many of whom considered him their extended family. George mourned the loss of Meyer Weiss (brother), Jay Weiss (nephew), Norman Weiss (cousin), and Sheila Weiss (former wife) as well as a number of friends.

George grew up in Newark and attended Weequahic High School and Rutgers University, thereafter owning an insurance agency. Before entering the sales force, he served in the army and was stationed in Bakersfield, CA.

George was involved in the community working the election polls every year and volunteering for Meals on Wheels. George was a hands on grandfather and rarely missed a soccer or baseball game. He was a compassionate, fun, kind person who enjoyed painting, sailing, and motorcycling while indulging his artistic and adventurous spirit.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 2nd @ 1 pm at the Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Homes at 2130 Rte. 35 South, Ocean, NJ. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to your favorite charity.
