Ocala-Joe Farris Bass, 75, passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2013 with his family at his side. He was born in Holt, FL and was retired from the Florida Gas Transmission Company (a division of Enron). Joe was an avid hunter, angler and was a fan of any kind of sports. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Carrie Lou Bass, and his brothers, Calvin, Durward and Harvey Bass. Joe is survived by his loving wife, Betty M. Bass, his sons, Randall Parker and James Bass (Georgia), a daughter, Dana Sowell (Robin), sisters, Carolyn Griffith and Delores Arron, a brother, Farrell Bass (Carol), grandchildren, Corey, Justin, Autumn, Christopher, Hope and Hollie, great-grandchildren, Cameron and Blase, and many nieces, nephews and friends. A funeral service will take place on Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at 11 am with family to accept friends one hour prior at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 5740 S. Pine Ave., Ocala, FL 34480. The family would like to convey a very special thanks to the staff of Sylvia’s House for their compassionate care during these trying times.
