Irene Elfreda Clarke, aged 92, lovingly known as Bobbie or Aunt Bobbie, of Ocala, Florida, passed away on June 24, 2024. Born on June 14, 1932, in Bensonton, St. Ann, Jamaica, West Indies, she was the eldest of eight children born to Leonard Graham and Francis Bascoe.
In her youth, Irene migrated to England, where she met and married Wilwyn Clarke (Bill). She worked as a caregiver for the elderly and sick in England and later in New York, where the couple eventually settled. After her retirement, she relocated to Ocala, Florida, and continued her service to others through various volunteer organizations and occasional paid employment. Irene became a widow after her husband Bill's passing.
She is survived by her sisters, Alva Halloway, Iris Graham, Angela Graham, and Beverly Graham (whom she raised); brother, Cecil Graham (wife Valerie Graham); and nephews, nieces, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and friends, notably Jane Kurtz.
She was predeceased by her brothers, Gillies Graham (surviving wife, Hazel Graham) and Oniel Graham.
A devoted member of Ascension Lutheran Church, Irene was passionate about gardening and caring for her cats, often providing a loving home to those in need. Her kindness, compassion, and dedication to serving others will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Funeral services will be held at Ascension Lutheran Church, 5730 S.E. 28th St., Ocala, on July 8th, 2024, with viewing at 10 a.m. and the service at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, 5740 S. Pine Avenue, Ocala, FL 34480.
