Barbara Ann Whitmore born in Erie, Pennsylvania on August 22, 1943 to her parents Joseph and Mary Gresh has passed away peacefully, in her home on June 8, 2020. Barbara has made her home in Ocala, Florida for the past 47 years. She graduated from Northwestern Senior High School in Erie County Pennsylvania in 1961. On June 10 of 1961 she married John Nathan Whitmore, who served in the United States Air Force and then made their first home together in Weisbaden, Germany. Upon leaving the military they moved back to Pennsylvania and then eventually to Florida. Barbara was a retired Marion County School Bus Driver of 10 years. Barbara loved her girls and was very active with their activities which included, coaching many Cheerleading Squads, PTA President, Brownie/Girl Scout/ Bluebird Leader and Chauffer to many of their events. When asked right before her death what she considered her greatest achievement in life, her response was having the honor to raise five beautiful, independent women, she could proudly call daughters and knew no matter what their love and dependency on each other would get them through life's struggles.
She was pre-deceased by her husband, John Nathan Whitmore, her parents Joseph and Mary Gresh, a brother Robert Gresh. Sisters, Dorothy Jones, Catherine Senita and Dolores Eades. She is survived by her five daughters and their spouses, Deborah and Frank Zimmerman, Marjorie and Robert Anderson, Christine Whitmore and Mike Pringle, Pamela Urnowey and CherylAnn and Daniel Bellow, 39 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Wednesday, June 17,2020 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 5740 South Pine Avenue, Ocala, FL 34480. Visitation for family and friends will be from 9:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M., a private service for the family will begin at 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. directly followed by a graveside gathering
