Concetta Angelina Vacco

Concetta A. Vacco, age 92.5 peacefully passed away on September 26, 2023. She was born on February 18, 1931 in Chicago Illinois to Phillip and Angelina Varco. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Richard and infant son Joseph John. Beloved mother to Richard J. Vacco Jr., Gina Silva (Michael), Philip Vacco (Carla Jean), Carla Bryant (Terry), Anne Marie Pintore (Luigi), Catherine Wayne (Mark). Cherished grandmother to Lauren (Dean), Giancarlo (Mychaela), Eric (Alaina), Francesca (Michael), Lisa (Chris), Vincent, Shawn (Sami), Candice, and Gino. Fond Great Grandmother to Dominick, Leona, Sarina, Logan, Maksym, Serafina, and Gianna.

On Tuesday we unexpectedly lost our most favorite person in the world, our beloved “Nonna”. At 92.5 years old, Nonna was as sharp as a tack, healthy as a horse and was proud to share that she passed her driver’s test for another year. Growing up in Catholic school, the nuns taught her to pray for a “happy death”. (Can you imagine?!?) In a happy death, you fall asleep and don’t wake up. We feel that God heard her prayers, and she left this world as she would have wanted. Independent, happy and healthy- and for that we will always be grateful.

Nonna was an avid scotch drinker, so if you feel so inclined, pour one out for her this weekend.

A visitation will be held Monday, October 2nd, 2023 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, October 3rd, 2023 at 9:30 a.m. at Ascension of Our Lord Church, 1 South 314 Summit Avenue, Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois 60181. Burial to follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 1400 South Wolf Road, Hillside, Illinois 60162-2105.
