I don’t know what made me think of you today. I went to your page and saw the news. I met you when you worked here in Arkansas. Your smile was so contagious. You were a sweet person. I hated to see this. I’m so sorry my friend. 

 This is to remember my commander during my last deployment 2009-10, he was a good man and we always shared good laughs at FOB Falcon! Rip! 56 yrs young, I last saw him 2017-18 time frame. We shared a memory of Iraq and laughed! That memory was how he managed to set up a golf driving range in the middle of a combat zone!

I met Steven at St. Ethelreda, where we were classmates in grammar school. Looking at his photos as a child really took me back. I remember him as athletic and funny while never imagining he would have the growth spurt he did. I saw him once many years later and most recently at a school reunion.  On behalf of the Class of 1979 of St. Ethelreda, I offer our deepest condolences to the family, for our dearly departed classmate.


When we were growing up cousin Stevie was like a little brother to me and I will miss him dearly. ❤️

I met Steven Stewart when we were assigned to the 379th CM in Chicago in 1995. He was our company Commander as a 1LT. He was a compassionate, fair, and a knowledgeable leader, and one of the best Commander’s I’ve had the opportunity and pleasure to work with and know over my 40-year career with the Army. We’d cross paths either by phone or in person over the years and share insight on how to get the missions of the moment completed. Occasionally we were at celebrations for fellow Army comrades. His wisdom was as vast as his stature. My last interaction with LTC Stewart was during the last few months of my service prior to my retirement in 2016. He and I were assigned to different units in the same Army Reserve center in Homewood, IL. I looked way up, and there he was standing in front of my desk with his, I have a mission for you smile. Again, we had the pleasure of working together to accomplish a mission for his unit and the facility. Rest in Heaven gentle giant. I’m blessed to call you, my friend. Thank you for trusting me to be your friend and professional confident. 




I met LTC Stewart as we are both JROTC Instructors within the Chicago Public School System. Each time I met him he was just always very pleasant, and very positive person that I enjoyed speaking with. He will be sadly missed and my prayers and condolences go out to his entire family.

It's still hard to believe!  We met back in 1979 our freshman year in HS. Less than a year ago we started talking every day and you made sure I was safe while I was out on the road driving. You kept me in stitches. Thank you for all our talks.  Because of you, I got vaccinated. I miss your laugh. RIP, you'll always be in my  💙 .

I remember meeting LTC Stewart in Camp Lemmonier, Djibouti in East Africa back in 2014-2015. He was a great man who always had great conversations about our shared experiences in Chicago. When deployed, it’s great to meet cool people who know the same people you do. You will be missed Sir. 

One very cool brother that I met 20 years ago @ a venue. Just so happen it was with all the rest of the fellas Scott, Big Mike, Greg, Wood,etc…🙏🏽 ‘s Steve for joining the conversation that day bro, I live life  by listening to words that help. Rest In Heaven 🌹💯🙏🏽 “Never Forgotten” 

Steve was a good person and my friend and I will miss him.

May my brother Steve rest in eternal peace. I met Steve when he joined Oakdale Covenant Church in 1989.  Pastor Jemison hooked it up. He joined the basketball team and we struck up a friendship from there. He started hanging out at my home with me and my young family. We enjoyed sports, good food, house music and conversation. Steve was a good dude whom I considered one of my best friends. R.I.P. may the entire Stewart family be blessed
