Leatha grew up in Hegewisch, attending the Chicago Teachers College to become a primary school teacher. She married George in 1974 and moved to Evergreen Park soon after, where they raised their two boys, Peter and David. Leatha grew flowers and loved watching for the seasonal birds while serving as a substitute teacher in local schools.
Leatha and George attended Maranatha Chapel for about four decades, as well as being active in the Messianic congregation hosted there. Leatha was always eager to share her time and her faith with friends and neighbors, and published her testimony of God’s blessings in her book, Giver of All Good Things.
She is preceded in death by her husband George and half-brother Richard, and survived by sons Peter (Hannah) and David (Jami), and grandchildren Deborah (Ryan), Jonathan (Hannah), Justin, Judah, Erik, and Joshua.
Her wake and celebration of life is being held Thursday, July 18th, 2024 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 PM at Blake-Lamb Funeral Home, 4727 W. 103rd Street in Oak Lawn IL.
