John was the son of John and Nancy, born June 25, 1953. He graduated from Oak Lawn High School. He was married to Shirley (Mealer) Johnson for 50 years. John worked as a welder for the Boiler maker Union.
He had a passion for fishing, being outdoors and loved his cats.
He is survived by his children: John and Paul; beloved grandfather of Samantha, Christopher, Sarah, Faith, and Dylan; beloved Great Grandfather to Juliette, Hazel, Aiden; loving brother to David, Judy, Linda, and Steve.
A visitation for John will be held Monday, November 11, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Chapel Hill Gardens South Funeral Home, 11333 South Central Ave, Oak Lawn, IL 60453. A prayer service will occur Tuesday, November 12, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, 11333 South Central Ave, Oak Lawn, IL 60453. A burial will occur Tuesday, November 12, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Chapel Hill Gardens South Funeral Home & Cemetery, 11333 S Central Ave, Oak Lawn, IL 60453.
