Alex so sorry I lost contact with you .  And Axel you were my friends we tried to make " House Music" I just couldn't see the vision you saw for us .  You were so professional and dedicated. I can't believe I'm just finding this out today.  My heart is broken. Alex and I have a long history and through it all have remained friends. We may not have talked everyday when we did it was like we never lost touch. He was the most kind hearted man. And I love that he was my friend. We loved each other. I am going to miss you my friend.

My dear childhood friend Alex, thank you for the memories  I will miss you!

Why is it that the older we seem to get the more and more we miss friendships from days long past?

You know the ones…

The friendships where you felt 100% happiness being in their presence.

Where you felt as if you could be your true self—goofy, silly, honest, and real.

Where you would get lost in conversations, imagination, and being fully present in the moment.

Where you went on adventures, told them your secrets, and laughed until your bellies hurt.

They knew you, and you knew them, and it just… clicked.

The news of your passing left a sadness in my heart. Farewell old friend, rest in heaven.

Alex and I both attended Koz and Lane together. I remember playing kickball in the school yard. He was kind, thoughtful and always smiled. Rest in Paradise, see you at the crossroads. 

Alex was a teaching artist with Olive Tree Arts Network. Regrettably, we only got to know him for a year.  However, he made quite an impression on our organization. He came to the first meeting full of ideas and incredible enthusiasm. He was so, so proud to be a father and grandfather. His enthusiasm never waned, he was always the first one to lend a hand, share an idea or share his perspective. We have an internal group where we meet monthly to discuss topics such as racism, LGBTQ+ rights and issues affecting indigenous people. After our last meeting, Alex shared his idea for our next topic.  His idea is a wonderful example of Alex's impact on our organization. He was always deeply thinking about the next step, how he can add his creativity, what can be done to make us just a little bit better. He also taught me to draw a slice of pizza so it looks like a pizza, and for that, I am grateful! Below is the email he sent on Nov. 17, 2020: 

Had a wonderful time with our last discussion. I’ve been looking for books to inspire the growth and education of our students and I remembered a short book that may cover those aspects.

The book I’m referring to is “Letters To A Young Poet” by Rainer Marie Rilke. I remembered it being reference in the movie “Sister Act 2,” where Whoopi Goldberg’s character is attempting to inspire a student who really wants to sing, But is being denied by her Mother because she finds it frivolous to pursue. I believe this is a wonderful book, as I read it when I was younger and it made me and inspired me to push forward in my dreams.

This book may shine a light on these children and help them achieve their goals.

I've been working with Alex as his business advisor over the past couple of years. What a dynamic, creative personality.
So upbeat and energetic!
The world has lost a creative force.


Alex shared his mantra with me and I reshared it. He was always a positive person and we facebooked each other at times about all the different movies he thoroughly enjoyed watching. In fact he inspired me to want to watch more movies he knew them all ! and he had a great time doing it!  And I know he loved to cook because we talked about each other's cooking one time. heck I tried to get him over my house to eat some of my cooking once I thought he was so nice LOL. He had a great spirit and these are his words.

I had the pleasure of working with Alex for a number of years in the 1980’s. He was one of the most creative people I have ever met. He loved art, music, cooking and most of all life. He always had time to help whoever needed it especially a struggling musician

The thing I will never forget is when Alex invited me and the others in the office to his home for a traditional dinner. His family became my family and not just because his mom was such a great cook. But everyone was so warm and inviting. It reminded me of my family and growing up around good people and good food. 
Alex you will be missed see you on the other side!

It was during our Freshman year.  We became friends quickly and easily. Not an east feat in a 2500-persons freshman student body. 
In next to no time later, I'm at his house for dinner playing my trumpet for the nicest parents and family I'd ever met.  
Alex was pure. In humor, talent, and in life. His life was his art. 
My heartfelt condolences to your family.

I will never forget the time you took me out to the studio to record with you. I knew from the time we met you were a soul brother. Back in the day taking the Blue Line. I was the Logan Square kid and you were humble from Humboldt. I will never forget our talks, laughs and love of characters. We got to be creative together and broke bread many times. More than anything you were my brother. You always kept things positive when people weren’t their best. You were my ears as I was yours. A GREAT man that was always there. My brother. 

Alex and I were Facebook friends tho we had many phone conversations. I will miss his positive force in my life and his "can do" attitude.  Thank you for being my friend Alex. I will carry your spirit always. Rest peacefully. I love you.
