Rita Josephine Kurek

On April 8, 2022, Rita Josephine Kurek (nee Charvat) passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Carl Anthony Kurek; devoted mother of Carl F. Kurek and his wife Patricia, Christine A. Scheufele and her husband William, Richard G. Kurek and his wife Dawn, Rita M. Kurek, DDS and her husband Michael Butler, and Linda C. Gemmill and her husband Robert, Jr.; loving daughter of the late Joseph B. Charvat and the late Lillian Anna Charvat (nee Stanek); cherished grandmother of Robert Gemmill, III, Shane Gemmill, Lindsey Gemmill, Kathi Blizzard, Janet Jones, Melissa Pritchard, Hannah Kurek, Joshua Kurek, and Jennifer Wohn; beloved great-grandmother of Jackson and Lily Gemmill, Elizabeth Blizzard, Allison Naecker, Jonathan Gallant, and Isabelle Cochran; dear sister of the late Joseph Charvat, Thomas Charvat, and Francis Charvat.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Schimunek Funeral Home, 9705 Belair RD, Nottingham, MD 21236, on Tuesday, April 12, 2022, from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM. A Mass of Christian Funeral will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 13, 2022, at 11 AM, at Church of the Annunciation, 5212 McCormick Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21206. Entombment services will follow at Gardens of Faith Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Rita's name to Boys Town at www.boystown.org, or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at www.stjude.org.
