My deepest and most heartfelt condolences for your loss! Upon hearing of Greg's passing, I immediately returned to our shared times together. I had the honor of playing next to Greg, on our 1970 undefeated, championship, football team at POLY! Those were fantastic times, and we all thought it would last forever! They were very special times, and as a team, not only did we work hard at becoming champions in football, but champions in life as well. The characteristics of manhood, scholarship, perseverance, and uplift, became our foundation as people. Greg Schaum was a great football player, but I KNOW, he was greater as a man! Rest easy my man, for you have completed the race!

Greg….While you are celebrated as one of the greatest athletes EVER in Baltimore history, Super Bowl winner, and Maryland Sports Hall-Of-Famer, to ME, you will always be Debra’s husband, Jaclyn’s father,  Matt’s father-in-law, and “Pop” to Avery Grace and Carson.  You are more loved for what you did off the field than on  it!……Cousin Jerome

I will always remember you as a fun loving full of life person. Many years ago we worked together, and the most powerful memory was the birth of your daughter and how in love you were with your wife, my God give you peace.

I met Greg while he was stricken to a wheelchair. He was funny and intelligent. He did not bring up his football career and it was some months that I was told. Greg was brave above all. I am proud that we were best friends.

My deepest condolences to Debra and Jaclyn for their loss and to the  rest of Greg’s family.    I will miss Greg’s humor and wit.  Greg and  I were good for each other because we both suffered  debilitating  injuries and understood each other’s dilemma.  From  the time we first met up across lines in a football game,  our daughters playing sports together and Brothers in the Knights of Columbus, our rapport for each other constantly grew and our love of sports and talking about sports became a common denominator in all our conversations .
