Walter Filipek

Walter Filipek, 99, of Norwood, peacefully passed on February 27, 2022 at home surrounded by his family. Born November 2, 1922 in Wolica Piaskowa, Poland to late Jozef and Antonina (Jakubek) Filipek. He was the beloved husband of the late Zofia (Kukulka) Filipek for 73 years.

Walter was passionate about family, gardening and making bread. He was a jack of all trades, there was nothing that he could not fix. Walter was unfailingly devolved to his Catholic faith. He spent 20+ years of his retirement with his wife Zofia in Seminole, FL enjoying the year round sunshine and the beach. Lived in Norwood for the last nine years.

Walter is survived by his loving children, Toni Oles and her husband Andrzej of Norwood, Jozef Filipek and his wife Alexandra of Largo, FL, Stella Stojanowski and her husband Ryszard of West Roxbury, Victoria Laszczak and husband late Christopher of Norwood; his adored grandchildren, Dr. Anita Karasko and her husband Erich of Norfolk, Mark Oles and his wife Christy of Walpole, Peter Stojanowski and his wife Maryjayne of Bellingham, Gregory Laszczak and his wife Julie of Windham, ME, Adam Stojanowski and his wife Kelly of Andover, Robert Filipek and his wife Sara of Largo, FL and Mathew Laszczak and his wife Shawna of Norfolk; his cherished great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Emily, Zachary, Katelyn, Anya, Addie, Brady, Landon, Calleigh, Sienna, Thomas, Austin, Brooke, Lillah, Colton, Isabelle and Camille. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and their families.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 3, 2022 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at Gillooly Funeral Home, 126 Walpole Street, Norwood. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, March 4, 2022 at 10:30am at St. Timothy Church, Norwood with interment to follow at Highland Cemetery, Norwood.
