Rita Marie Lyons

Rita (Deignan) Lyons, of Norwood, passed away peacefully on March 25th at the age of 92.

A longtime resident of Norwood, Rita is survived by her two sons, Charles Lyons of Norwood, Michael Lyons and his wife Beth of Duxbury. Rita leaves behind two grandchildren, Corey and Christopher Lyons. She is predeceased by her loving husband Thomas Lyons, son Thomas Lyons, her sisters Marie Dempsey and Eleanor Levesque and parents Charles and Marie Deignan.

Rita was born in Boston and raised in West Roxbury. She graduated from Girls Latin and attended Emmanuel College. She was a devoted mother and friend and dedicated much of her time to the Girl Scouts of Eastern MA. In 2023, she received her 85+ pin for volunteer and service to the organization.

Rita enjoyed spending summers on the Cape in South Yarmouth with her family. As a longtime member of Bass River Yacht Club, she volunteered time and talent to the Wianno Senior organization. Rita will be greatly missed.

Services from the Gillooly Funeral Home, 126 Walpole St, (Rt.1A) NORWOOD, on Wednesday, April 2 at 9:30AM. Funeral Mass at St. Timothy's Church, 650 Nichols St., Norwood, at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours in the Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 1st, from 4 – 7PM. Interment Highland Cemetery, Norwood.
