Loving mother and devoted grandmother, Marie Ann Slattery, 77, of Norwood, MA passed away September 12, 2019 surrounded by her family.
Marie was born and raised in Ware, MA, the daughter of the late Julia (Adamczyk) and Rudy Bloom. A caring wife, she was predeceased by her husband of 44 years, Charles M. Slattery. Marie and Charles met following high school and married when Charles returned from serving in the Navy. They raised four children. Upon retirement, they enjoyed taking cruises and travelled all over the world.
Marie worked at Mary Lane Hospital, first in the records department and later as a medical assistant secretary. She was active in her church serving as eucharistic minister at All Saints Parish in Ware and St. Timothy Parish in Norwood. She was a member of the Daughters of Isabella, the Emmanuel Prayer Group and St. Francis Prayer Group.
Marie was a storyteller who injected humor into the tales she told. She treasured spending time with family, loved photography, gardening and sewing.
She is survived by a daughter, Erin Riekstins and her husband Tom; a son Shawn Slattery and his wife Norah; a daughter Kelly Slattery and her boyfriend Edward White; and son Ryan Slattery and his partner Rei Bollozos. She also leaves three grandchildren: Ariana Lizardo and her husband Steven; Austin Broderick; and Charles E. Slattery; along with a great-grandson Kyren Lizardo; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Marie was predeceased by her brother Ralph Bloom and sister Judy Kusek. She also leaves two sisters, Marlene Brodrick and Dorothy Chrabasz.
