John J. Collins

John Joseph Collins 76 of Norwood passed away peacefully on September 27, 2023 at Hebrew Senior Life in Boston.

John was born in Newton and grew up in Jamaica Plain. He leaves his beloved wife of 54 years Mary (Skelly) Collins.

He was the loving father of Lorie Collins of Norwood, Carol and her husband Joseph Hart of Norwood and Shawna and her husband Michael King of East Bridgewater. Cherished grandfather of Maxwell and Heather Hart and Lilly King. He was predeceased by his granddaughter Violet Hart and grandson Jason King. He had many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of Marie Nelson of West Roxbury and the late Richard Collins of Alton NH.

John retired from Raytheon in 2006 and enjoyed traveling the world especially by cruise ship. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. John was known by his family and friends as Jay and Grumpy. He was a Eucharistic Minister and usher at St. Timothy’s Church. John was a Lifetime member of the Norwood Elks 1124 and he was also the Exalted Ruler in 1991.

Services from the Gillooly Funeral Home 126 Walpole Street (Rt. 1A) NORWOOD on Thursday October 5 at 9:30 AM. Funeral Mass in St. Timothy’s Church, Norwood at 10:30. Visiting Hours in the Funeral Home Wednesday 4-8. Interment Highland Cemetery, Norwood.
