Helen M. Wall Lynch

Helen M. (Wall) Lynch, 91, a lifelong resident of Norwood, passed away peacefully, Thursday, Feb. 5, 2015, at home surrounded by her family. Born in Norwood on August 17, 1923, she was the daughter of the late James and Ellen (Moynihan) Wall. She was the beloved wife of 67 years of C. Thomas Lynch, Jr.; the loving mother of C. Thomas, III, and Alice B. Lynch of New Jersey, James J. Lynch of Virginia, Ellen Lynch Schiavoni and Edmund S. Schiavoni, Jr., of New Hampshire, Anne M. Lynch-Lupica and Joseph A. Lupica of Brockton, and Theresa C. Lynch and Mary Lee C. Potter of Somerville; the cherished grandmother of Katherine H., Elizabeth M., and Caroline A. Schiavoni, Ramey E. Lynch, Jacqueline A., and Christina E. Lupica, and Owen C. and Claire C. Lynch; the dear sister of the late William, Andrew, James and John Wall, Catherine Lamminen, and Mary Ann “May” Sullivan; and the aunt of 14 nieces and nephews and many grand and great-grand nieces and nephews. She was graduated from St. Catherine of Siena School in 1938 and from Norwood High School in 1941. Following graduation, she was employed at the Plimpton Press in Norwood. She later served as the executive assistant to the Norwood Town Treasurer and Collector of Taxes before raising her family. She led Girl Scout troops of St. Catherine of Siena School students, for her nieces in the 1940s, and again for her daughters in the 1960s and ‘70s. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 11, at 9 a.m. from the Gillooly Funeral Home, 126 Walpole St., (Rt. 1A) NORWOOD, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 547 Washington St., Norwood. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery, Norwood. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 10, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
