Edward L Donovan

After a long struggle with mental illness Edward L. Donovan Jr. passed away peacefully in the presence of his dedicated caregivers in Tewksbury, MA on November 17, 2021. Services were held at Gillooly Funeral Home and interment was at Highland Cemetery.

Ed faced many challenges throughout his 66 years of life with courage and determination. His wry humor often turned difficult events into manageable moments. While attending Saint Catherine’s School and Norwood High his early life was filled with happy memories of fishing along New Pond, playing hockey at Pettees, and enjoying the company of many wonderful friends at Father Mac’s, the Shattuck School playground, and the Cottage Street neighborhood.

As one of the late Dr. Edward L. and Margaret L. Donovan’s ten children he managed to carve out a unique presence admired by all who knew him. His devotion to his parents was undeniable and life-long.

Ed will be dearly missed by siblings Nancy of Philadelphia, Tom of Wellesley, Steve and wife Corinne of Duxbury, Robert of South Hadley, Ellen of Rochester NY, John and wife Robin of Walpole, William of Cambridge, Michael of Norwood and Elizabeth of Norwood and by nieces Lisa, Laura and Amara and nephew Jonathan.
