Joyce Marie Lawrence

Joyce was born in Norwich on July 3, 1931. She was the daughter of the late James V. and Nellie (LeClar) Goodrich. She attended Norwich High School, where she was involved in many extracurricular activities, and graduated in the class of 1949.

Following graduation, Joyce was employed at the Norwich Pharmaceutical Company as a secretary.

On January 13, 1951, she married William C. Lawrence, who preceded her in death.

Joyce was a long-time member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Norwich, where she served as a Sunday School instructor, a member of the church choir, and as an active member of the church’s Couple’s Club. She also enjoyed many years of camping at Fish Creek Ponds with her husband Bill.

Joyce is survived by her sister, Edna Beers; her sister-in-law, Dorothy and her husband Joseph; her children, James Lawrence and his wife Joyce of Youngstown, NY, Jon Lawrence and his wife Melissa of Leesburg. VA, and William Lawrence Jr. and his wife Theresa of Greensboro, NC. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Alexander Lawrence and his wife Brandi, and Jessica Langham and her husband Kevin (deceased); her great-grandchildren, Austin, Michael, Anthony, Lexi, and William III; and her great-great-grandson, Clayton.

Visitation will be held at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home on June 3, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. A private family funeral service will immediately follow.
