Ronnie was born on July 10, 1944, in Norwich, CT to the late Lois Donovan. He attended Norwich Free Academy and was married to Uta Marie Guntner for 62 years at the time of his death. He was pre-deceased in death by his mother, Lois Donovan, in 1994 and his brother, Pete MarcAurele, in 2016.
Ronnie loved his family. He is survived by his children Ron, Jr., Darryl, Sr. (Donna), Michelle (Douglas), and TJ (Lisa). His grandchildren Darryl, Jr (Kristy), Tara (Kristoffer), Devon (Morgan), Kailey, Morgan, Kelsey, and Ashlyn. His great grandchildren Darryl III, Elloise, Alessia, London, Stormi, Ainsley, Kristoffer, Magnolia, and Jameson. His siblings, Allan (Debbie) Szarka and Sharon Arters.
Ronnie began his career as a painter for Local 1122 and later became their Business Agent. He went on to open his own painting company, PQT Painting, where he took pride in his work and in sponsoring Ron Jr.’s softball teams. While working, he was known for his grit and passion. He was notoriously stubborn and survived on his daily regimen of vitamins.
After retiring, Ronnie enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. His loved ones could always rely on him for bringing them for “health food” (ice cream), making them laugh with a mighty “Bah Hum Bug” and taking enough pictures in one day to fill up a whole scrapbook. He had a love of music, playing guitar and singing anything from country to the oldies. He passed on this love to his children and grandchildren, teaching most of them how to play guitar. Throughout the years, his grandchildren gave him an abundance of nicknames including Grandpa, Pampa, Buddie, and Gungalis which he accepted with joy. Ronnie and his wife, Uta, enjoyed most winters in Florida with lifelong friends driving up and down the coast each year. His love of driving started young, driving his sons across state lines for wrestling practice and to Iowa for competitions. Loading his children and any other wrestler that fit into his Dodge caravan with no air condition or GPS, he got them to their destination every time. He loved being his family’s “chauffeur” driving his grandchildren across the country to their sporting events and even teaching them to drive - while the rest of their family wouldn’t step foot in a car with them.
He will be remembered for the love he shared with his family and friends. To know Ronnie, was a gift. His memory will be cherished by all who met him.
