injuries sustained while swimming in a rocky cove on the Island of St. Croix in the US Virgin Islands.
He was born April 17, 1974.
While Norwich, CT, eventually became home, he considered a bit of home to be everywhere his extended family was. Spots between the East Coast and the West Coast marked different stages of life that he would share with countless memories of grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins who were always close in his mind and could be seen in their influence they had on him and the man that he became.
Roby’s work in construction and carpentry gave him a tremendous sense of pride and purpose. He was
always ready to show pictures of work sites in progress or finished projects, and quick to tell stories of
the guys he called family on those sites – truly appreciating what each of them brought to the table.
Constantly on the go, his time off the clock was filled with more of just about everything. Helping a
friend with a remodeling project, home repairs, car problems – whatever you needed, Roby would find
a way to help you out. And if you had an interest in whatever he was doing, he would spend hours
showing you the ropes and teaching you the ins and outs.
While he had the heart of an adventurer, always ready and waiting to discover new places to go, things
to do and stuff to see, it was his overall laid back, easy-going personality and genuine kindness and
compassion that drew people to him. Whether he was fishing with the kids, cruising around on the
boat, making soupy with a friend or sitting by the fire playing cards surrounded by the dogs, the hours
he spent together with the people he cared about was what mattered to him.
If you were fortunate enough to have his heart, then you knew without a doubt that his love and
devotion was limitless; he would move mountains every day just to see you smile and make you feel
loved and cherished.
Roby was loved beyond words and is missed beyond measure.
Rest in peace.
