Robert William Illingworth

Robert William Illingworth, age 78, of Wethersfield, passed away on December 28, 2021, at his home. He was born on June 18, 1943, in New Haven to the late William and Kathleen (Baird) Illingworth. Also preceded in death by his brother Richard Illingworth of New Jersey.

Robert served in the U.S. Navy for four years on the USS Independence aircraft carrier during the time of the Cuban Crisis. He also enjoyed a career as a baker and was a talented artist.

Robert is survived by his sister Linda M. Weiss of Connecticut, nieces, Bobby Sue Steele of California and Caryn Talyosef of Connecticut and her son Matthew Steele of South Carolina, Sister-in-law, Janice (McAuley) Illingworth of New Jersey, nephew Scott Illingworth and wife Jamie Wolfe of New York, niece Heather Illingworth-Brogan and Todd of New Jersey and their daughters Kylie and Kiera. Robert leaves behind best friends Ronnie and Sonia of New York and a large extended Illingworth family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on June 18, 2022 at 9:00 AM at the Cathedral of St. Patrick, 213 Broadway, Norwich CT. A private burial with full military honors will follow at a Veterans Cemetery.
