Michael Allen Wright, age 62, passed away at Hartford Hospital at 10:29 am, On June 2nd, 2023, after a long battle with cancer. He was born in Alton, IL on December 30, 1960, to the late Bernard and Bertha (Turner) Wright. He lived most of his life in Alton, IL, but relocated to Jewett City, CT six years ago.
Mike was a prep cook at Fountains, and Beverly farms assisted living homes in Godfrey, IL. He was married to the love of his life, Laura Katherine Bass-Wright, in 2003, and they were looking forward to celebrating their 20th anniversary on September 20th of this year.
He was an avid fan of St. Louis Blues hockey, LA Rams football, the St. Louis Cardinals, and NY Yankees baseball. He loved playing bingo and pool and went fishing any chance he could. Over the years, he had several cats, dogs, a bird named Calypso, and even a pet monkey named Peppy.
He is survived by his wife Laura k. Bass-Wright, their children, Darrin and Laurie Wright ,Andrew and Victoria Bass, Samantha Stuller, Katelin and Sammual (Bishop III) Bass, Samuel Bass, Alyssa(Brown), Isabella Bass-wright and Jordan Bass-Wright, his closest friends Anne and her late husband Mel Braus, as well as his grandchildren Sophia, Sam, Sean, Jonathan, Lucas, and Kennedy. They lovingly called him PawPaw, and they had a very special place in Mike's heart. He is survived also by his brothers Walter and Frank Wright, sisters Barbara, Carol and Bob (Brown), Cathy (Boucher), Marsha and Carl (Seidler) wright and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mike was predeceased in death by his daughter Sharon Kulenkamp, granddaughter Micha Stuller, his brothers John J., Charles B., and David E. Wright, his sisters Mary (Williams), Christine (McKaig), Phyllis (Mir), and Bertha (Weigel) Wright.
A celebration of Michael's Life will be determined at a later date home in Illinois surrounded by his family. Donations may be made in Michael's name to the American Cancer Society.
