Zoe Karakitsou Stanley was born in Patras Greece in 1926 and emigrated to North America after World War II in search of a new life. She was a lively and intelligent woman who liked conversing with people, listening to music and dancing. She was a nurse in Greece in the 40s, a tailor when she moved to Fresno, and could knit like a fiend. Many friends have baby blankets and dresses that my mother made, and they still cherish them.
She died peacefully at the age of 93 surrounded by family and friends.
