Retired, Senior Master Sergeant, United States Air Force, Thomas W. “Tom” Mason went home to be with the Lord on April 27, 2024. A Celebration of Life Graveside Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 11, 2024 at Cornelius Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery (16251 Cornelius Church Rd, Buhl, AL 35446). Services will be conducted by Rev. John Nixon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, W. H. Mason, Lois Williams Mason; sister, Shirley Brown; his son, Walter T. Mason; and daughter Vicki Mason Miller. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Patricia Howell Mason; son, Steven Mason; granddaughters, Christine Ferguson (Morgan) and Rhyan Raymond; grandsons, Isaiah Mason and Micah Mason; brother Ronnie (Linda) and Michael Mason, nieces and nephews, and 3 great grandchildren.
He graduated from TCHS in 1951 where he played football, baseball, and basketball. He retired from the US Air Force as a Senior Master Sergeant with 26 years of service. He received five A.F. Commendation Medals with 4 oak leaf cluster and the German Occupation Medal. He was a charter member of the AF Memorial Foundation. He served in Germany, Vietnam, and Korea. In Germany, he coached football and baseball with the American Youth Association and won the USAREUR Championship in 1973. He worked for the VA, Shell, Mack’s, Army-Navy Surplus store, Salesman, and had his own business. Tom was a member of Northport Baptist Church, Hixon/Landers and Stillman Sunday school classes, and Trail Blazers.

In lieu of flowers, contribution to Cornelius Cemetery Fund (16196 Cornelius Church Rd, Buhl, AL 35446) or Northport Baptist Church Building Fund (1004 Main Ave, Northport, AL 35476).
