Joe Douglas Latham

He attended Tuscaloosa County High school where he graduated in 1967. After graduation he worked and apprenticed as an electrician and owned his own business for many years. He Worked with A+B electric, the City of Tuscaloosa Department of Transportation and the University of Alabama. He also graduated from the University of Alabama Law enforcement Academy Reserve 1X in 1995 and worked with the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Department Auxiliary.

In September of 1986 Doug married Lucrecia Massie-Latham of Tuscaloosa. He loved his home on Lake Tuscaloosa at Lake Hill Drive where he has lived since his development of the Lake and enjoyed taking boat rides each evening. Doug was an avid race car fan and loved any chance to see the Blue Angels. He of course loved Alabama Crimson Tide football and basketball.

Doug was preceded in death by his wife, Lucrecia Massie- Latham, his Parents Martha and Lewis Latham.

He is survived by his son Bryan Latham; his daughter, Meredith Latham; his sisters, Jenna Latham and Peggy Turner; his step daughters, Phylecia Hickman Krebs, Dayna Hickman, Sescily Fletcher; his grandchildren, Caleb Krebs, Kylee Benson, Cade Krebs, Ryan Junkin, Eric Junkin, Hayden Smelley, Kenzie Fletcher, Keeleigh New, Emmie New, and a host of great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Frankie Krebs, Joe Krebs, Mark Krebs, Caleb Krebs, Cade Krebs, Mark Jenkins, and Eric Junkin. Honorary Pallbearers are Glenn smith, Pats Smith, Bud Shelton, Kim Shelton, Bobby Connell and Chance and Amy.

Celebration of Life Funeral Services will be held Monday, December 19, 2022 at 1:00 PM from the chapel of Sunset Brown-Service Funeral Home, 3802 Watermelon Road, Northport, Al 35473. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 noon until service time. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park.
