Jennifer Marie Maughn Bible, age 48, of Coker, Alabama, passed away unexpectedly at DCH Regional Medical Center on November 30, 2022. A beloved daughter, sister, wife, and mother, Jennifer’s life was shaped by a deep love of her family, a tireless passion for teaching her students, and an unshakeable hope in the love and goodness of God.
Jennifer was born on October 12, 1974 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, to Johnny and Sharron Maughn. She was proceeded in death by her paternal grandparents Walter and Bessie Maughn, maternal grandparents Enoch and Willie Mae Vandiver, her father-in-law Rex Bible, and great-niece Laney Elizabeth Greene.
She is survived by her husband Jamey Bible, daughter Abbey Bible and son Ethan Bible; her parents Johnny and Sharron Maughn; mother-in-law Brenda Bible; sisters Kelly Maughn Greene (Jason) and Jessica Maughn Childers (Justin); sister-In-Law Amanda Williams (David); nephews Braiden Greene (Ashleigh), Kylar Greene (Montana), Trace Greene, Julian Williams, Luca Williams, and Toby Williams; nieces Caroline Greene, Landen Westbrook and Etta Williams; great nephew Brex Greene.
Jennifer was affectionately known as Sissy to her sister’s children. Her students referred to her simply as Bible.
The calm, steady middle child between two not-calm sisters, Jennifer attended Westwood Elementary, Northport Junior High, and Tuscaloosa County High School. She followed her big sister Kelly to Auburn University, where she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science and an engagement ring from Jamey Bible. Jennifer and Jamey were married on December 27, 1997, at Flatwoods Baptist Church in Northport.
A lover of all things school and learning, Jennifer continued her education at the University of Montevallo where she earned a Master’s degree in Secondary Education. Two decades into her career, Jennifer pursued her Education Specialist degree at The University of West Alabama, graduating just last month.
A lifelong educator like her mother, Jennifer began her teaching career at her alma mater, Tuscaloosa County High School, in 2000. She taught Anatomy, Environmental Science, and Earth and Space Science at Northside High School for the last 21 years. While a truly exceptional and effective educator, it was Jennifer’s love and sincere care for her students that made her an irreplaceable presence in the Northside community.
Above all, Jennifer’s family was the love of her life. She and Jamey shared 25 years of marriage; their children, Abbey and Ethan, were Jennifer’s greatest joy. She enjoyed running, taking walks by the wildflowers, swapping stories around the dinner table with her large, lively family, and visiting the beach any chance she got.
The beautiful flowers were designed in Jennifer’s honor by fellow Westwood Gator, Scot Wedgeworth.
We believe Jennifer was met at the Gates of Heaven by her niece, Laney, and her beloved dog, Roscoe, where she heard the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!” -Matthew 25:23
