James Skelton

BUHL - James Roy Skelton, age 82, of Buhl, died July 31, 2016, at Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 3, 2016, at Buhl Baptist Church with Bro. Dale Butler and Bro. Alfred Banks officiating. Burial will follow in Cornelius Chapel Cemetery with Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 2, 2016 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The body will lie in state one hour prior to services at the church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Skelton and Madie Booth Skelton; brothers, W.B. Skelton and Donald Skelton; daughters, Debra and Stacy Skelton; and grandson, Thomas Gravette.

Survivors include his wife, Loretta Skelton of Buhl; daughters, Lynn Sanders (Joe) of Eutaw, Sheila Dunn (Mike) of Tuscaloosa, and Sandy Gauley (Alan) and Luann Baron (Tony), both of Gordo; sons, Timothy Lee Skelton (Stella) of Northport and Michael Shelton (Andrea) of Tuscaloosa; three sisters; four brothers; grandchildren, Lewis Sanders, Nick Sanders, Jennifer Boatner, Cristy Worley, Kimberly Farmer, Wesley Patton, Nick Patton, Stacie Barron, Tyler Barron, Timothy Skelton, Anna Morgan Shelton and Davis Shelton; 10 great-grandchildren; and two special daughters, Camille Howell and Amy Sullivan.

James Roy loved and cherished the Lord, his family and church.

Pallbearers will be Nick Sanders, Wesley Patton, Nick Patton, Tyler Barron, Timothy Skelton, Mike Skelton, Kenny Holloway and Rob Burns.

Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Hemstreet, Buhl Baptist Church Family, Dr. Pamela Hughes and Dr. Larry Skelton.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of West Alabama.
