Rayburn was preceded in death by his parents, Wakefield and Lois Gray, his cherished wife of 43 years, Mary “Sissy” Albright Gray, son Rolland Gray, daughter Deanna Jones.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 18 years, Doris Locke Gray. Sisters, Rachael Dutton (Dicky) and Ginny Orr (Jimmy). Daughters, Cindy Gray and Mary Anne Dollar (Chris). Daughter-in-law, Debbie Gray and Son-in-law, Tim Jones. Stepchildren, Tiffany Hawthorne (fiancé, Tim Patterson), and Glenn Hawthorne (Keely). Grandchildren, Ashley Wetterling (Scott), Jason Gray, Justin Williams (Amy), Jessica Lee (Sean), Adam Dollar, and Sarah Dollar (fiancé Vihari Sornapudi). Step grandchildren, Kim Smith (Jonathan), Nathan Harcrow (Millie), Raven Sartain (Eric), Cameron Travis (Heather), Asher Travis, Emma Hawthorne, Jamison (Cole, to Papa Gray) Hawthorne. Great grand children, Connor, Kaitlyn, Cody, Brady Wetterling, Emma and Bradleigh Williams, Steelie Gray, Olivia and Grace Lee. Step great grandchildren, Wyatt, Waylon, Will, and Walker Smith, Riley Sartain, and Blake Travis. He also leaves numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
Rayburn grew up in Alberta City and graduated from Tuscaloosa High School in 1958. He began working as a young boy at Brown's Pharmancy in Alberta City, worked at Alabama Binder for many years and retired from BF Goodrich after 27 years of service in 1998. He had many titles Dad, Daddy, Pops, Paw Paw, and Papa Gray. He loved his children, grandchildren and great grand children more than life. Rayburn was an avid Alabama Football fan, baseball and softball fan. He loved hunting, fishing, camping, picnics, and Ballroom Dancing. He was a long time member of Circlewood Baptist Church and past member of Northwood Hills Baptist Church. He will be missed by all who knew him.
The family will rceive guests at 1:00pm on Saturday, June 4th, 2022 at Sunset Funeral Home in Northport AL with the Celebration of Life Funeral Service following at 2:00pm with Pastor Herb Thomas officiating.
Pallbearers will be Jason Gray, Justin Williams, Glenn Hawthorne, Chris Dollar, Tim Jones and Danny Barton.
Honorary pallbearers are Tuscaloosa High School class of 1958, The Alberta Bunch, Special care givers, Janis Junkin, Amy Williams, Ann Coley, Asher Travis, Enhabit Home Hospice care givers Ty, Kita, Tammy, Karen, Chaplin John, and all the family members who stepped up to help with his care, and his Sunday school class at Circlewood Baptist.
