Selena Lee Packard

It is with a broken heart that I pass along the news that my beautiful wife, Selena passed away on Wednesday night (April 20th) after three weeks in hospital due to complications related to Covid and the cancer she so valiantly fought.

Selena passed away peacefully in her sleep, with myself and our son (Nicholas) there with her. Selena’s will never wavered. At one point the decision had to be made as to whether Selena would want to go on a ventilator if it gave her an increased chance at surviving. She didn’t hesitate. Selena was going to do whatever it took to give her more time with her family, and especially our son, Nicholas. When I asked her if she was scared, she just raised her hand and slightly separated her thumb and first finger and said “A little”.

She always made me laugh.

Selena fought so hard and did so with determination and grace, never once complaining. Selena never felt pity for herself and just continued to believe she would overcome whatever obstacle she faced. Selena inspires me and is an incredible example for our son. We also were able to say goodbye and express all the things that we needed to say over the final few weeks and that is an opportunity that many people do not have, and for that Nicholas and I are extremely grateful.

Our hearts are broken but we do find some solace in the knowledge that Selena is free from suffering and is now resting in eternal peace and love. She is most certainly with her dad whom she loved and missed dearly. We will continue to grieve, but in time I know the hurt will be filled with more and more peace and happiness in the many memories of the blessed times we shared. I know Selena is with us, in our hearts, and will always be until we are together again.

Selena is survived by her husband Gerry, her son Nicholas, her mother Dallas Schindler, sister Mandy Biddulph, and brother Quentin Biddulph.
