Desmond Finley Larock

LAROCK: Desmond, F. "Des" passed away peacefully on June 24, 2020 at the age of 86 years. Des has a large family who miss him dearly. Des will be lovingly remembered by his wife Lorraine, his brothers Barrie and Doug Larock, sisters in law, Diane, Shirley, Judy, and many family members including children, Mike Larock (Carol), Tony Larock (Akemi), Chris Larock (Laura), Scott Gray, Tracey Miles, Spencer Gray (Dianna), Eight grandchildren (Miako, Elise, Mateas, Fraser, Ryan, Sean, Billy, Carson), and many more friends. Des was previously deceased by his brother Bryan, mother Mimi and father Wilfred.

Desmond was born in Ottawa Ontario, in 1934. He excelled in sports and enjoyed a brief professional hockey career until he joined the Canadian Air Force in 1955. Desmond rose to the rank of Captain and was a navigator on board the CF100 (Canuck) and CF 101 (Voodoo). Des was stationed in many locations including Marville France, Bagotville Que, Ottawa, Chatham, Trenton, and Tacoma Washington. Following the military, Des embarked on a third career of business and property management.

By far, Desmond’s greatest joy was watching sports and spending time with his adult children and grandchildren. He was frequently seen picture-taking in all settings, and all of those he loved were captured by his camera. He could also be found tree-pruning, ball-throwing, deckbuilding, daytime-napping, debating, and one on one advising. Des Larock was a strong person. He had integrity, he was trustworthy, reliable, and he had an abundance of wisdom.

Des will be missed by his loving wife Lorraine, and all his family and friends.
