Cyril Dennis Dorras passed away peacefully surrounded by his wife and family on June 27, 2024 in the Sea-to-Sky Hospice at Squamish General Hospital.
Born March 10, 1925 in London, England Cyril was 99 years old and lived a full life with his family in Canada.
Cyril is survived by his wife of 33 years, Myrna Richards; his children Deborah Roberts, Rod Dorras (Hope Miller) and Joy Dorras (John Donnelly); Myrna’s children Ross Richards (Jennifer) and Patricia Higgins (Paul); and his five grand-children Stacey Beveridge (Kelly), Lindsay Woledge (Pete); Jordan, Terence (Jenna) and Naomi (Sean); and his six great-grandchildren: Harper, Arden, Maia, Stirling, Flora and Thatcher.
Cyril was predeceased by his parents Joseph Dorras and Janey Lieberman; his first wife Lilian, and all his siblings: Rene, Harry (Betty), June (Sonny) and Eddie (Jean).
Cyril enjoyed hearing the news from all generations of his extended family here, in the UK and New Zealand. He always had a big smile to greet his family and friends, he had a great sense of humour and would often quip with funny words or a saying to make everyone laugh.
Cyril came to Canada from London, UK in 1949 and travelled across Canada, eventually settling in Vancouver where he worked as a heavy duty mechanic. He travelled to New Zealand with his young family in 1960, returning seven years later to call Victoria home.
Cyril and Myrna were married on April 12, 1991 and after many happy years on Vancouver Island, they moved to Squamish, BC.
Cyril will be missed by his extended family and many others. He will be remembered at a celebration of life taking place on July 10, 2024 at Shannon Falls Retirement Residence in Squamish from 2 – 4 pm.
