Mary Hassell, aged 86, of North Palm Beach, passed away on Thursday, September 23, 2021. She was born on December 3, 1934 to R.C. and Clara Freeman in Chickasaw, AL. She attended Chickasaw Elementary School and C F Vigor High School in Prichard, AL.
After high school, she worked at the F W Woolworth in Mobile, AL, where she met her future husband, James, whom she married in 1955. She worked for 17 years at Southern Bell Tel and Tel in Mobile, AL; Brunswick, GA (while her husband was stationed at Brunswick Naval Air Station) and West Palm Beach, Fl. She was co-owner of Shield Exterminating, Inc., and worked as Office Manager from 1971 to 2020.
She was preceded in death by her parents, R.C. and Clara Freeman, her step-mother, Melba Freeman and her brother, Clayton Freeman. She is survived by her husband, two sons, Rick and Andy Hassell of North Palm Beach; her sister, Betty Haines of Mesquite, NV, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 27, 2021 at the Howard-Quattlebaum Funeral Home, 754 US Hwy 1, North Palm Beach, from 5-7 pm, with service at 6:30 pm. Burial will be held on Tuesday, September 28 at the Royal Palm Memorial Gardens, 5601 Greenwood Avenue, West Palm Beach at 1pm.
