peacefully on April 24, 2022. Despite her life being shortened by illness, Gail led an amazingly
full and satisfying life, always centered on family, friends, and giving back to her community.
Her spirit of playfulness, humor, and kindness will remain as a gift to all who knew her.
Born Gail Nowacki on May 17, 1961, in Wausau, WI, she earned her bachelor’s degree
in Business at the University of New Mexico, Las Cruces. Gail went on to hold Human
Resources Management positions at companies in Pittsburgh, St. Louis, Hartford, and Houston. She traveled extensively on business, including internationally. Gail married Don Burwell in 1996, and they enjoyed extensive travel together to many cities, states, and to numerous countries on four continents. Favorites included Hawaii, Rome, Florence, Venice, and many others. When she and Don decided to expand their family, Gail spent five years focusing on adoption planning and processes. In 2005 they traveled to China to meet their new infant daughter Mia, then all three happily flew back to the US. Eventually settling in Palm Beach Gardens ten years ago, the family began enjoying their new home in Florida. Gail loved the climate, her daily walks with the family dog, and socializing with neighbors and friends. An avid lifelong reader, it was no surprise that one of the ways Gail gave back was volunteering with Deporres Place, doing English as a Second Language training, helping immigrants succeed in their new country. Gail leaves behind her husband Don, daughter Mia, stepson Louis, parents Hilary and Emma Nowacki, brother Gary Nowacki, mother-in law Dorothy Burwell, brothers-in-law Bill (Amy), David (Sharon), and Greg Burwell (Jane).
Services will be from 12 – 3 pm Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at Howard Quattlebaum Funeral, Cremation and Event Center in North Palm Beach. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Mia Burwell’s college fund.
