Dallas Gayle Mabry

Dallas Mabry, 70, of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, passed away peacefully surrounded by her sisters on December 12th, 2023. She was born on July 31st, 1953, at Good Samaritan Hospital in West Palm Beach, Florida to Woodford Jones Mabry and Lois McGee Mabry.

Dallas is survived by her four sisters, Debbe Warren, Daryl Storm, Denette Leahy and Darlene Cordani; seven nieces and nephews; and sixteen grandnieces and grandnephews.

A native Floridian, Dallas picked up the trombone her sophomore year at Palm Beach Gardens High School, and was awarded a full ride scholarship to Florida State University as a member of the FSU marching band. As a matter of fact, Dallas could pick up any instrument and play any song by ear. She later transferred to Converse College, graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education.

While many young college students chose to pack across Europe, Dallas was determined to steer a different course, a particular way of living that would ring true throughout her life. Dallas, along with a friend, rode their bicycles across America. Earning their keep along the way, working at migrant farms to luxurious ski resorts. All throughout the journey, they relied on the kindness of strangers and sheriffs.

Now, friendships from her college days, lured her back to South Carolina, where for 10 years she managed the Lantern Ridge Swim and Racquet Club and coached the Sting Rays Swim Team to many victories.

Upon returning to Palm Beach County, Dallas decided to pick up a tennis racquet. Much like the horn, in a very short time, she was hired as the tennis pro for the North Palm Beach Country Club and served for 10 years.

Once again, her trombone beckoned her back to music and service and she enlisted in the United States Army. She traveled nationally as a member of the US Army Band, performing military ceremonies, troop entertainment, public events, and providing educational outreach to communities.

After an honorable discharge, Dallas once again returned to Palm Beach County and dedicated a decade to Palm Beach Gardens Hospital as a Pharmacy Technician.

For the last 20 years, Dallas worked for Celedinas Insurance Group.

Wherever Dallas was, you can rest assured that she brought a breath of fresh air (and a few other trinkets). She loved all creatures great and small, but especially her four legged children; Elliott, Erin, Juno and Lacy. Dallas was an avid gardener and shared all she knew and all she grew to all she could. Above all else, she loved her family and neighbors, and was a living example of a sweet, kind, and gentle spirit.

She offered her beautiful smile to hide the pain, we here are left with tears falling like rain. Dallas will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
