Born on April 19, 1937 in Fall River, MA, he was the son of the late Norval and Margaret Glynn Gesner.
Chick spent the majority of his adulthood in Connecticut and had a long and successful career as a salesman at the American Powdered Metals Company. His colleagues, clients, friends and family remember him as one of the best salesmen whose jovial and vivacious disposition was accompanied by his remarkable knack for recalling the smallest and most thoughtful details about the lives of all people he worked alongside, as well as people he cared for and befriended.
He enjoyed golfing, boating, skiing, traveling, and watching any collegiate or professional sporting event, and had an uncanny ability to recite your alma mater’s latest sports statistics, that you may not have even known. He was a long-time member of the New Haven, Pine Orchard and Bear Lakes Country Clubs, where he built many lifelong friendships. Chick was very generous with his time and reveled in sharing it with his children and grandchildren. He took pride in hosting wonderful experiences for family and friends, whether it be a boat ride on the Intracoastal or trip to Disney. Chick always enjoyed finding a great bargain, sipping iced tea and eating coffee ice cream, any time of day.
Chick is survived by his sons Peter K. Gesner of Orrington, ME, Charles H. Gesner, Jr., and his daughter, Heidi and Ed Corvo of Middletown, CT, as well as grandchildren Oliver and Erin Garthwaite (Portland, ME), Rebecca and Steven Ayigah (Pasadena, MD), Amanda Gesner (Juno Beach, FL), Erika and Brian Kilgore (Johns Island, SC), and twins, Ian and Zak Corvo (Middletown, CT), as well as three great grandsons, Alex Gesner, and Isaiah and Rowan Garthwaite. He is also survived by his former wife,
forever friend, Patricia Gesner (Juno Beach, FL), brothers Bruce (Phyllis), Glynn (Moe) and adored by many nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his sisters Valerie Gesner and Debby Duffy (survived by husband, Ed Duffy), as well as former wife, Debbie Harcourt Farrel Gesner (survived by sons Court and Miles Farrel).
A celebration of his life with friends and family will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Palm Beach County. We thank them for their wonderful care and support.
