Scott Sherwood, 64, was taken too soon while undergoing double lung and liver transplant at NYU Langone March 23, 2025. Born June 9, 1960 on the University of Miami (Go Canes!) campus at Doctors’ Hospital to John and Marilyn (Uram) Sherwood. His childhood days included hanging out at his second home with the entire Ryan family, the Dolphins kids club, almost failing the second grade, Boy Scouts, helping his mom, maybe reluctantly, take her ceramics to art shows, the roller skating rink, the bowling alley, running away from home to his backyard, gymnastics at Killian High, and liking girls even when all the boys said they had cooties. Scott had a great memory, recalling the names of not only his teachers and classmates but also his girlfriends from kindergarten on.
He graduated from Miami Killian High a year early and briefly attended the University of Colorado, where his love of computers and programming started.
After various jobs, like selling jewelry and working at a paper mill, he answered a newspaper ad for an office clerk at Investacorp. His ambition, creativity, and innovativeness rocketed Investacorp to become a leading broker/dealer. While dedicated to his career, he prioritized his family and friends.
After his mom passed away in early 1982 he and a buddy went to Haulover Beach. That’s where he put his stuff down on a group of girls’ blanket so the girls could “watch it while they went in the water.” Well Scott and his friend never did go in the water, instead they chatted up the girls. One of those girls, Diane Reid, would become his bride of almost 41 years. After six years of marriage they welcomed their first daughter, Brittany, and then two years later twins, Andrew and Chelsea. He was an active and loving father who cherished his time with his children so much.
He had many hobbies fishing, boating, Hurricanes Football, old school Dolphins football, traveling all over the world (hello Amsterdam and Oktoberfest) going out on Wednesday nights, Pokemon Go and for his legacy he wrote and composed music including “Baby’s Lullaby”, “Simply Love You” as well as songs inspired by his health journey: “My Plastic Melody” (an anagram for Myelodysplastic syndrome his original diagnosis) and “I Want to Live” which he wrote after surviving his bone marrow transplant. Both can be viewed on YouTube directly at calm.tools/scott
Scott is survived by his wife, Diane; his children Brittany (Mark), Andrew, and Chelsea; his brother Gene; and sister Francine. He was predeceased by his brother, Steven. He loved and was loved by many that called him family and friend. We will all miss him greatly.
