Ronald Leroy Owens

Ronald Leroy Owens, age 74, passed away on September 17, 2022, surrounded by his family. Ronald was born on May 8, 1948 to Cleatus and Wilma “Lorene” Owens in Conway, Arkansas. As those who knew him well, Ron lived his life with a dedication for country, compassion, and control.

Ron graduated from North Little Rock High School in 1967 and went on to complete his bachelor’s degree from UALR after his dedicated time served with the US Air Force. His professional career with CNA Insurance in the risk management department spanned decades.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Barbara Owens; and brother, Sherman Owens. Ron is survived by daughter, Ashley (Jeff) Alderman; sons, Brian (Laura) Owens and William (Tonia) Owens; two grandchildren, Charlie and Bennett Owens; and a sister, Nina K. “Kathy” Owens; also a niece, Sonja Nelson and nephew, Brad Owens; and three great-nephews, Rob, Chance and Nash Nelson; and other extended family.

Although he enjoyed a successful professional career, Ron had many passions outside of work. He was a fierce scout leader, avid motorcycle and trike enthusiast, a fixture at his American Legion Post, and selfless servant to his beloved church.

Memorial celebration of Ron’s life will be held Thursday, September 22, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at First Christian Church of Sherwood, 2803 E Kiehl Ave., Sherwood, AR 72120. Entombment will follow at a date and time to be determined
