Marilyn Morgan Ferguson Hester (78) passed away Thursday morning, October 17th, 2019, in her home in Sherwood, Arkansas. Her husband Jim was by her side. She was born to parents Ruby Lee Chapman and George Davis Morgan, September 3, 1941 in Rock Springs, Wyoming. Marilyn graduated from South High School in 1959, and received a BS in Secondary Education from the University of Utah in 1963. She taught Health Education in Salt Lake City, Utah. Marilyn retired from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences after 32 years of service.
She began her family with Charles Ferguson (deceased) and had two sons, Steven David (deceased) and Scott Charles (Chris Walsh). She was married to Jim Edward Hester in Lake Tahoe in (2009). Marilyn has spent her retirement years traveling with her husband Jim, and visiting her grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening and watercolor painting. She was a long time member of That Church in Sherwood, AR. She was preceded in death by her brother David Morgan and two sisters Linda Morgan and Janice Paul. Marilyn is survived by her husband Jim (75), son Scott Charles (51) of Chicago, and daughter-in-law Karma Eller of Texas, stepdaughters Jennifer Cockroft (Scott) and Jamie Moncrief (Michael). Marilyn also had six grandchildren: Alex Ferguson, Amanda Gibbs, Troy Moncrief (Courtney), Amie Moncrief, Kelly Hart (Sean), Lyndsey Hedger (David), Kelly Cockroft, James Cockroft, and Jessie Stewart. She also had six great-grandchildren and two nieces, Michelle Garcia and Jennifer Morgan.
A celebration of Marilyn’s life will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, October 21st at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Funeral Home, 7724 Landers Road, North Little Rock, AR. Please share your memories of Marilyn at www.griffinleggettresthills.com.
