Joshua Bernard “Bernie” Drucker, 84, of South Florida, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2024, just one day after his 84th birthday. Born on October 8, 1940, in Miami Beach, Florida, Bernie was the cherished son of the late Joseph and Dora Drucker.
A proud graduate of Miami Beach High School in 1958, Bernie went on to receive a Bachelor of Science from the University of Florida and later graduated from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 1968. He dedicated over 50 years of his life to serving as an optometrist in South Florida, where he was known for his generosity and commitment to his patients.
Bernie is survived by his beloved wife Ruth, his high school sweetheart with whom he shared 60 wonderful years of marriage. He is also survived by his two daughters, Lisa and Jodi and their husbands, Alex and Steve. He was a proud grandfather to four grandchildren, Jessica, David, Kayla, and Riley, who brought him immense joy.
An avid sports enthusiast, Bernie enjoyed playing tennis, ping-pong, and basketball, and he was a devoted Miami Dolphins fan. Known as a math whiz, he could solve any problem, quickly, impressing family, and friends with his sharp intellect. His generous spirit, sense of humor, and unwavering support for the underdog made him a beloved figure in the lives of all who knew him. His favorite sayings, “Have a good life” and “Unbelievable,” reflected his joyful outlook on life.
Bernie’s funeral will be held on Sunday, October 13th 2024, at 10:30 AM at Star Of David in North Lauderdale.
Bernie will be deeply missed for his kindness, laughter, and the love he shared with his family and friends. He leaves behind a legacy of devotion and honor that will live on in the hearts of many.
