John Norman Mork, Sr. of North Hollywood, California passed away peacefully on January 13, 2021 at the age of 81. He was (virtually) surrounded by his wife of over 45 years, children, and grandchildren.
John Norman Mork, Sr. was born on March 31, 1939 in a farm house in Wilson, Wisconsin to Helen Catherine Maloney and Norman Edwin Mork. He was the oldest brother to his three siblings: Bill, Kathy, and Suzie. The family moved to Hawaiian Gardens, California where John graduated from Artesia High School in 1957. He served in the United States Marine Corps and was awarded an Honorable Discharge in 1965.
John was a professional photographer for many years and owned his own studio, Metrocolor of Hollywood, in North Hollywood. He changed careers in 1988 and worked for the U.S. Postal Service until his retirement in 2014.
In 1974, he met his wife Cora, often describing this as “the best thing to ever happen to him”. They married on December 13, 1975 at Sportsmen’s Lodge in Studio City. Together they raised four children: Christopher, Christina, Jennifer and John Jr., who became the focus and pride of his life. He enjoyed spending time with his family, sharing stories about growing up on a farm, and politics. He will be remembered as a kind and humble man, but above all, a devoted husband, father, brother and grandpa. His warm heart, generous spirit, and gentle strength will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Cora; children, Chris, Christina, Jennifer and John, Jr. and grandchildren Nicole, Noah, Nicholas, Andrew, Maxwell, Samuel and Caleb.
“Love your family. Try to help them with any problems. Have faith in them but watch them carefully and protect them always.” ~ John Norman Mork, Sr.
