Mr Eddie Stokes  God put him in my life for a period of time he was a blessing to Salem Baptist church of wadmalaw  and pastor Brown ill never forget him may his soul continue to rest in peace  family be encouraged because I've walked this road also and it will get better as time goes by. Cathy and I send our condolences to the family. Edward was a great man and has such as great family you could feel the love and how close everyone was.  He impacted so many from the many careers he touched to the great charity and community involvement.  A life well lived. Rest in peace. 


Mr stokes was a great man, he offered me my first automotive sales consultant position, and when my career took a different path he encouraged and supported me. I went on to apply for the law enforcement position and was disqualified because they said that I was terminated by stokes automotive, I explained that was a lie and they asked who could they confirm that with I gave them Mr. Stokes direct number and he told them I infact resigned and that I could return whenever I like. He didn't have to do that, I loved this man and the opportunity he afforded me . May you rest in peace sir. My condolences to the entire family.

To the Stokes family my prayer and condolences during this most difficult time. Big Ed Stokes was an amazing man. To have such a great man as a member of one’s family is truly a gift from God. I thank God for his life and his respect as a true friend.  It was truly a blessing to know him. May God forever keep his family in his care during this season of life.  An amazing gift of a man.

What can I say, I am so sad.  I met Ed when he first moved to Charleston many years ago, when we were young.  We rode motorcycles together for many decades.  I can truly say he was one of a kind.  He was an outgoing, forward moving, prosperous guy that always did things his way and never looked back.  He had a positive outlook on everything.  His personality and friendship will never be forgotten.  Always offering a hand to those in need, he had many friends from all walks of life.  I was proud to be one of them.  And I know he was so proud of his family, because  he told me so.  I could write a book on Ed but I'm sure all that knew him, knew of his attributes.  I am an old man now but I too  cried.  May the Lord comfort your heart and give you peace in the coming days ---

My sincere condolences go out to family and friends. Edward was a man admired by all and was well respected by all. RIP old friend, someday we'll visit on the other side.

First real job I ever had Ed gave me at the Honda dealership. He always had a smile, was always at the motorcycle race track with us cutting up and yelling if we finished anything less than first place. Love the whole family.  I was very very sorry to hear of his passing. as well as your moms.  Tight hugs to Eddie and Edwina. Your daddy was incredible! 

I started working at Stokes Honda when I turned 16, working after school and weekends. Being that young and impressionable was a benefit because I was able to watch and learn how Mr. Stokes talked to customers, employees, and vendors. He treated everyone with respect, I never saw him talk down or belittle someone, and used his “down home” way of talking that made everyone at ease. Now that I’m older, I admire Edward even more for everything he has accomplished. He built a successful business that made a living for his family and a legacy for their future generations.
Edward, along with Vivian and Jerry, created the foundation that I have built my own business and future on and not a week goes by that I don’t use a lesson or example that I learned form them.

I am heartbroken to hear of his passing and he will definitely be missed. My condolences to the Stokes family and I will be praying for you strength. I was Ed Stokes nurse at home for the past 7 months.  I am heart broken to hear of his death.  He was a man who loved people and life. He always had a smile and a joke.  He will be missed.  My condolences to his family.  

Mr. Stokes will be greatly missed. The stories he shared always made everyone laugh and smile and we will carry his heart in our hearts forever. Sending Prayers for God’s love, peace and comfort to the Stokes family.

Mr. Stokes would light up the room by his wonderful stories that always made everyone laugh and smile. His tenacity, resilience, determination and positive can do attitude motivated everyone he came in contact with. His love for Christ, his family, friends, community and business was shown through his commitment and drive to  help others. He will be missed greatly. May his legend always live on and we shall all meet again in heaven one day.  We are praying for God’s love, peace and comfort for the Stokes Family. May we carry his heart in our hearts forever. 

I am greatly saddened by the passing of your Dad. I have known Ed for over 50 years. Ever since I bought my first Honda Motorcycle back in 1969.  I was honored to have my band play for many Stokes Christmas Parties and especially for his 80th Birthday Party.. He always had time to stop and talk. He was such a great person, respected by all. My heart goes out to Edwina, Eddie and all who loved him. God Bless.

I have been blessed to work for Stokes Hodges Auto Group for nearly 14 years and had the privilege to meet Mr. Stokes several times. He was the most down to earth person I have ever met. When he visited the dealership I work for, people would mistake him for a customer if they had never met him because he dressed in casual clothes and was so friendly and inviting to everyone. He spoke to people as if he had known them forever.  I have always felt like I am truly part of the Stokes family because of the way Mr. Stokes and his family have treated their employees and I am forever grateful! The Stokes family has helped employees see their dreams come true through the years and that legacy will last forever. I am praying for the family that God bring them comfort during this difficult time. RIP Mr. Stokes!  

Mr. Stokes had a gift of being quick to comprehend, with sound thought and  good judgement.  He had  a special ability to make everyone feel comfortable when you spoke with him.  I have always respected him and listened closely when he spoke, as he always had something profound to say.  I will miss hearing his enlightened sayings,  but know that we will see him again one day in heaven.
