MCPO E. Bidd Smith

Ernest Bidd Smith, 78, of Goose Creek, SC gained his wings on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 surrounded by his four boys, immediate family, and close friends. He was born on July 23, 1946 in Walhalla, SC to the late Ella Mae Beatty and Elbert T Smith.

Bidd graduated from Walhalla High School in the class of 1964. Bidd went on to enlist into the United States Navy in 1967, working his way up the ranks to achieve the status of Senior Master Chief before retiring

He served our great nation for 27 years. His love of the ocean continued into retirement where he found relaxation with Nixie aboard any Royal Caribbean Cruise ship. Other hobbies included woodworking, hunting, fishing, and golfing at Crowfield Country Club in Goose Creek.

Bidd is survived by his Children: Mark Smith (Benita) of Goose Creek, Paul Smith (Tina) of Goose Creek, Bidd Smith (Norma) of Moncks Corner, David Smith (Hayley) of Goose Creek; as well as step-daughter Melissa Cook (Micheal) of Summerville; and step-son Christopher Peters (Kara) of Greenfield Massachusetts. He'll be dearly missed by his 20 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; his three sisters: Shirley White of West Union, Betty Nelson of Walhalla, Vickie McCartha of Lexington; and his brother Jake Smith of Walhalla.

Bidd is preceded in death by his wife Nixie Smith; and brothers: Lloyd (Dick) Smith and Dandy Smith.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home, located at 7113 Rivers Ave. North Charleston, SC 29406.

A celebration of life service will follow in the chapel at 1:00pm.

Full military honors will be rendered at the graveside with interment to follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
