Kathleen S. Orr

Kathleen Strickland Orr, 89, of North Charleston and, most recently, Hanahan, departed this life on Thursday, September 26, 2024, in her home surrounded by family. Kathleen was born in Pembroke, North Carolina, on March 24, 1935. She was the daughter of Aleather Johnson Strickland and John Romie Strickland.

Our mother spent a lifetime sacrificing for her family and friends without complaint and will always be remembered for her faithfulness to her family and friends.

“Give her the reward she has earned,

And let her works bring her praise at the city gate.”

Kathleen is survived by three of her six children, Eleshia Manrriquez (Jorge) of San Antonio, Texas, Claudia Rushton (Rick) of Hanahan, South Carolina, and Larry Wade (Kimberley) of North Charleston, South Carolina, eighteen grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her step-mother, Julia Strickland, five brothers, two sisters, two sons, Jimmy Moran and Tony Moran, one daughter, Tammy Burn, and one great-granddaughter, Olivia Kelley.

The family will receive friends in the funeral home parlor, Carolina Memorial Funeral Home, 7113 Rivers Avenue, North Charleston, South Carolina, from 2:00 PM until the time of service, Monday, September 30, 2024. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Service at 3:00 PM, at the graveside. Flowers are accepted or memorial donations may be made to Alzheimers Association.
