Joy-Lorraine Eggers Houghtaling Bold – Summerville, SC Joy-Lorraine Eggers Houghtaling Bold, 84 years young of Summerville, SC, went to be with Our Lord Sunday, August 21st, 2016, at her home, surrounded by family. Joy was born in Yonkers, NY, March 22nd, 1932, the daughter of Henry J. and Harriet. B. Eggers (née Flynn). Joy worked for over 35 years in the Neurology department as an EEG technician at both the Medical University of South Carolina and the Ralph H. Johnson VA Memorial Hospital, where she retired. She was devoted to and is survived by her lifelong partner of 41 years, Daniel E. Belding; her children Lorraine L. Houghtaling, Donald R. Houghtaling Jr., Lynn S. Houghtaling Saint-Jean, Sharon E. Bold McMahan, Francis H. Bold, Jr., and Joanne A. Bold; seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. An avid sewer, Joy’s greatest passion was making quilts and blankets for family and friends—a loving reminder of her presence. Also a genealogy enthusiast, she leaves a rich account of the Bold, Houghtaling, and Eggers family to her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed reading, photography, and spending time with loved ones. Loved by all, she will be forever in our hearts. A celebration of her life will be held at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home , 7113 Rivers Avenue, on Saturday, September 3rd, 2016 at 2:00 pm.
